Christopher Radko Stunning Globe Ornament “Splendid Spruce”, #1010509. As the name suggests, this splendid globe ornament produced in Poland for Christopher Radko in 2003 highlights the noble spruce tree. The tree is richly decorated for Christmas, surrounded by brightly-colored, wrapped presents and topped by a gold star. It resting upon a bed of snowy-white fine glitter. What makes this ornament so special are both the elaborate base and glass globe. The base is highly detailed and decorated with a folk design using fine lacquers and glitter. The colors of the base relate back to the scene within the globe, unifying the design. The globe surrounding the Christmas tree was decorated with snowflakes in fine white glitter, suggestive of falling snow. The use of glass globes in ornaments is a European tradition, similar to wire-wrapped ornaments, in that the globe highlights what is within it and creates an interior space at which the viewer is encouraged to look. This ornament would be beautiful hung from an ornament stand on a mantel or table in a grouping of other decorations or on a Christmas tree using a rotating ornamotor so as to catch the reflecting lights of the tree and showcase the ornament from all angles. This ornament is 8 tall. It’s new, has never been displayed, comes with attached Radko charm and hangtag indicating authenticity and in original Radko collector box. It is in good condition however there is a smudge circle on the rear of the head & a few small dot smudges No chips nor cracks. Drop design Cat face. 6 1/2 Ht 2 1/4 W.
