Christopher Radko Globe Ornament Splendid Spruce #1010509 New 2003
A gorgeous globe ornament from Christopher Radko: “Splendid Spruce”, #1010509. As the name indicates, this stunning globe ornament, produced in Poland for Christopher Radko in 2003, features a splendid spruce tree, decorated for Christmas within a striking globe. The tree was decorated with miniature multi-colored ornaments, a garland and a golden star-shaped topper. It rests upon a bed of snowy white glitter and is surrounded by brightly-wrapped presents. Part of what makes this ornament so remarkable is the lavishly decorated multi-tiered base, painted with an array of colors to coordinate with the wrapping on the presents surrounding the tree. The finishing touch is the scattering of white snowflakes on the exterior of the glass globe, which echo the snowy white ground within. The use of glass globes is a European tradition, similar to wire-wrapped ornaments, in that the globe highlights what’s within it, creating an interior space at which the viewer is encouraged to look. Splendid Spruce is 7 1/2 tall. It’s new, has never been displayed and comes with attached Radko charm and hangtag and in a Radko collector box. Christopher Radko Stunning Globe Ornament “Splendid Spruce”, #1010509. As the name suggests, this splendid globe ornament produced in Poland for Christopher Radko in 2003 highlights the noble spruce tree. The tree is richly decorated for Christmas, surrounded by brightly-colored, wrapped presents and topped by a gold star. It resting upon a bed of snowy-white fine glitter. What makes this ornament so special are both the elaborate base and glass globe. The base is highly detailed and decorated with a folk design using fine lacquers and glitter. The colors of the base relate back to the scene within the globe, unifying the design. The globe surrounding the Christmas tree was decorated with snowflakes in fine white glitter, suggestive of falling snow. The use of glass globes in ornaments is a European tradition, similar to wire-wrapped ornaments, in that the globe highlights what is within it and creates an interior space at which the viewer is encouraged to look. This ornament would be beautiful hung from an ornament stand on a mantel or table in a grouping of other decorations or on a Christmas tree using a rotating ornamotor so as to catch the reflecting lights of the tree and showcase the ornament from all angles. Super Rare snow globe style ornament- comes with Radko collectors box and hang tag. This ornament has been used. It is from my personal collection of 20 years worth of collecting vintage Radko ornaments. All of my ornament tops have been hot glued on for extra security when hanging.
