VTG LE #3 XL Santa Toychest CHRISTOPHER RADKO Marshall Fields CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT
Extremely Limited Edition from 2002 Very Low Number… 3 of 75 — #3! Extra-Large Blown-Glass, Entirely Artisan-Made Ornament. Created for Marshall Field’s Beloved State Street Walnut Room Christmas Tree. Here we have a very scarce, very desirable, very low numbered Christopher Radko Christmas tree ornament from a very limited edition — number 3 of 75, Vintage Toybox. Everything shown in the photos comes with this piece — the ornament, and all of the original pieces and parts — packing box, padded wrap, certificate of authenticity, and explanatory card. Vintage : extremely limited edition only ever produced once in this size, in the year 2002. 8″ height x 7″ wide x 6 deep. Condition : Please see our photos for the best description of this piece’s condition. Enlarge and zoom in on them, and please ask questions about anything you see in them that doesn’t seem “excellent” to you. This piece hung from the Big Tree in the Walnut Room of the Marshall Field flagship store on State Street in Chicago, around which so many families’ Christmas traditions were built and memories were made. Very bright and shiny paint with so much depth in the glass, fresh and clean, with no chips, cracks or scratches. There is hot glue residue on the metal cap. These were the only glass ornaments ever hung from the very family-friendly Walnut Room’s Big Tree, so for safety reasons, the hangers were hot-glued to the ornaments. The certificate of authenticity states #3 of 75, and explains the special history of this collection. It, and the explanatory card, have light shelf wear. The box is the original one produced for these jumbo ornaments, and it is plain white, with no Radko print. It is in excellent condition with some light shelf wear. We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report. Corndogcache is a 100% non-smoking environment, and we’ll let you know if any of our vintage items smell like it (or anything else) from activities they may have been involved in before they came to us. Don’t ask why. We don’t know why. If this happens to you, stop, do not pay. Back out of that mess and shoot us a message instead, asking for a combined invoice, and then wait to pay from that. 1993 SANTA TREE Christopher Radko Ornament Red Tree Rare 93-320-0. Scratch on bottom green ball. Some scuffs and minor scratches through out. Minor amount of paint missing on Santas nose and side of face. Please see scratch on neck of santa in last photo. Ornament still looks beautiful on a Christmas tree even given the wear. This is a special ornament because of how its made. Please see my description below. Quoted from The First Decade. This whopper sized Polish ornament is actually blown from one piece of glass. First the Santa on top is created in a mold, and then the three levels of the tree and finally the ball. Only a master glass blower can craft this piece. Please let me know if you have any questions. SANTA TREE 93-320-0 RADKO Hard to find Rare Large Ornament
Page 114 of the First Decade Book. Santa Tree is one of the most coveted, sought-after, and intricate Radko ornaments of all timeprized by collectors since 1993. And it has an interesting back story, too. This whopper-sized Polish ornament is blown from one piece of glass. First, the Santa on top is mold-blown. After that, the three tiers of the tree and the ball underneath is made using the free-blown technique. Only a highly-skilled glass blower had the skills to produce such a piece. As the story goes, there was one such glass blower who made Santa Tree for Radko. But he had’off’ days. So the size and shape of the piece varied, depending on the day. He attempted to train others to blow Santa Tree, but the results varied. We think this Santa Tree was done on a very good day! A double-sided Santa head rests upon a three-tiered red tree with gold glitter. A shiny green ball finishes out the bottom. One tiny paint scratch on the bottom of the top tier of the tree (see photo). From an Estate Christmas Collection. Rural, Rustic, Antique, Vintage, and COMFORTABLE. Christopher Radko 2006 memories of Christmas past ornament. Stands almost 7 tall. Santa is at the door of a home with his presents slung across his shoulder. Two little children are peaking out at him from an open door. There are so many fantastic details. Look for the little cat and dog as well as you look at the details from every side of this gorgeous ornament. I was fortunate to find 2 of these and they are awesome. The original tag is still attached, however, the box was gone. The ornament looks in great shape and may never have been displayed.
