Christopher Radko Fantasia Set Of Two Ornaments, Star Cascade Recoloration
RARE Christopher Radko Fantasia Set Of Two Ornaments – Star Cascade – Recoloration – #9-10-01. Stunningly beautiful set of two vintage-style drop ornaments with classic Radko decoration, one green and the other red. These drop ornaments have a distinguished lineage. Like the shape itself, the decoration can be traced back to the first decade of Radko production. Circus Star Balloon, #88-072-1, was an early Radko drop ornament introduced in 1988 and shown in Christopher Radko The First Decade. It was reinterpreted as a slightly larger drop ornament with a different coloration in 1994, still with the name Circus Star Balloon, #94-201, and was also featured on the cover of the 1994 catalog. It was once again reinterpreted in 2002 and included as a boxed set of three color variations in Christopher Radko’s Fantasia Collection as Star Cascade, #02-0148-0. The current set of two recolorations in traditional holiday-themed red and green were never put into full production and for that reason are extremely rare. The decoration is as striking now as when the design was first introduced in 1988, but has been updated with two new colorations. The overall effect is elegant, exuberant and classic Radko. The shape of these ornaments is complex and vintage, and as they’re free-blown, required the skill of an extremely talented glassblower. Only the very best lacquers were employed by skilled artisans at a workshop in Poland who then applied fine glitter to highlight elements of the design. Each ornament is 6 tall. They’re new, have never been displayed, come with product development tags and in Radko collector boxes.
